One more week

Ah! I can’t believe we’re moving in less than a week! Yup, 6 days. I feel like I’ve been packing, and cleaning, and packing, and there is still so much to sort through. In between packing, and work and sleeping, we’ve been trying to cram in as much friend time as possible.

Hill Country in DC

As such, we’ve found ourselves indulging on a Texas-style BBQ meat buffet thanks to our good friends Carolyn and Tom. The BBQ at Hill Country in DC was delicious! I will have to learn how to make this kind of grub for our new friends in NZ!

Our friends Carolyn, Tom, Elyse and Mark also gifted us a membership to the Auckland Museum! Such a thoughtful and generous gift! Andrew and I are so grateful and excited to get to know more about the culture and history of our new home, and we could not be more thrilled with this! THANK YOU GUYS!!

So many great random events this past week made our last weeks in DC memorable! Last week, at the end of our NH friends visit, we saw a horse at an Arby’s drive through. Random? Yes.

We were so lucky to have many of our friends come by last night for a farewell/ send off. It’s so great to be able to see many of our friends one last time! I’m definitely going to miss all of our friends, some more than others 😉 – just kidding! But I know I can speak for Andrew when I write that leaving our friends and family is going to be the hardest part of this move. We can learn to live in a new culture, find new grocery stores, live with a tiny fridge and drive on the left side of the road… but it’s going to be a tough billet to find friends like the ones Andrew and I have been lucky to know both in the DC area, and from our respective hometowns. I am optimistic that with today’s technology we will keep in touch… and as much as possible, still see each other as often as possible.

Prior to the Color Run

This morning, in true random and exciting fashion, Andrew and I joined our friends for the Color Run. It is a 5k run where each kilometer volunteers dispense clouds of color for us to revel in. It was a blast! I’ll add a second post for an album of the photos! Enjoy!
